Anyone ever give a good listen to Billy Joel's "Vienna" song? If you haven't, I invite you to listen. And listen again. Perfect takeaways....
Billy Joel does an excellent job reminding us to slow down and enjoy life. There are days where I wish I would have listened to this type of advice before making some of my decisions, but then lessons would not have been learned.
Live in the now as opposed to try to get to a certain stage of life so quickly. We rush around worried we won't accomplish what we want to do before our time has come.
Slow down, you're doing fine. No matter what you do, be good at it, and whenever you get there, you get there.
Your Vienna waits for you....
Everything you are doing online today is creating a digital footprint for yourself. Are you in charge of it or are you allowing someone else to create it for you? I'm joining Best Kept Self on their Webinar Over Wine series for October and chatting about creating your personal brand the "Best Kept Self" way. It's fun to share my wins as well as my mistakes in order to help others. Most importantly, I'm excited to share the ways to do it correctly. First impressions are lasting ones and when the internet is involved, it's written in permanent ink.
The webinar is on Wednesday, October 22 at 8pm EST. Be sure to let me know if you are attending! Can't wait to meet you and send you a virtual "cheers" as we kick off the webinar!
We are the average of the five people we surround ourselves with.... Not to get you to start doubting your friendships, but wow. That will hit you straight in the nose sometimes. I've had times in my life where I had to stop, take a look around and realize that one of the many reasons things aren't happening the way I would like is because I'm not surrounding myself with those I look up to. When you have a support system, mentors, people who are leading their lives the way you expect yourself to, your world will start changing.
But the hardest part about this is guarding yourself and your time. Be generous with your time to those who deserve it and be cautious before giving your time to those who don't appreciate it or tend to take advantage of it.
Be selective about your network. It has been shown that the people we surround ourselves with influence us in subtle yet profound ways. If you associate with people who are successful you will "absorb" their way of thinking and decision making. You need to be highly selective about the peers you associate with.
There are many ways to connect with people. Connecting with people is a great way to build strong relationships, but social media has also made it even easier to connect with these individuals online. Take the time today to think about who you want in your life and how you can surround yourself with them. Shape your network in a way that will not only propel you forward, but everyone else who surrounds you.
I'm very excited to be a part of the Social Media Street Team for the Texas Conference for Women as this is an excellent opportunity to be surrounded by amazing women who are leaders in their industry. I'm prepared to be inspired and motivated with some of the outstanding speakers like Soledad O'Brian, Debbie Sterling, and Tamara Mellon. Having the chance to capture some of these ladies for interviews will be even more exciting.
I invite you to join me on November 13th at the Austin Convention Center. Get immersed with the other 5,000 attendees and plan on walking away feeling rejuvenated with a new direction and new ideas to take with you into the new year.
Invest in your future. Invest in you.
See you there!
